FAIRY-TALE Holzheim e.V. (also Theaterverein Fairy-Tale Holzheim) is an amateur theatre group in Holzheim, Rhein-Lahn-Kreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Its main production each year is a Weihnachtsmärchen (Christmas fairy-tale play) for children; it also stages a comedy as summer theatre every second year.[1][2]
History
According to the group, it has staged plays in Holzheim since 1986.[1] Theatre in the village began around 1985 together with the Ardeck-Bühne, the other local theatre group; the present association was founded in 2000.[3][2] Its first productions were Christmas fairy tales, beginning with Die Winterfahrt in 1986. In 1995 it took part in the Ardeck Burgfestspiele marking the 600th anniversary of Ardeck Castle, and in 1996 it marked fifteen years of theatre with a crime farce performed in a tent in the yard of a joinery. The founding year of the association, 2000, also saw its first summer theatre production.[3]
The group celebrated its 15th anniversary in July 2015.[2] After Alice im Wunderland in 2019, no performances were possible because of the COVID-19 pandemic; the group returned to the stage with a Christmas play in 2022, while summer theatre was not yet resumed that year.[3] In 2026 it held events marking 25 years of FAIRY-TALE Holzheim.[4]
Repertoire
The group's main production is a Christmas fairy-tale play for children, mostly based on the tales of the Brothers Grimm and other classic children's stories, performed in early December with morning performances for kindergartens and schools.[3][5] The 2014 production of Schneewittchen und die sieben Zwerge, staged with Disney-style interludes, reached about 1,000 children in five performances.[6] Every second year the group also plays a comedy or farce for adults as summer theatre.[1]

Organisation
FAIRY-TALE and the village's second theatre association, the Ardeck-Bühne, have alternated their productions in Holzheim every year since 2000. In 2015 the group received a grant from the Naspa-Stiftung for its technical equipment and its newly rebuilt storeroom for costumes and props.[2] Beyond the stage, the association runs social activities such as a regulars' table, darts and group outings.[11][4]
