Farger Theater e. V. is an amateur theatre group from the Farge quarter in the north of Bremen, Germany. Founded in 1979, it stages one comedy each autumn and winter season and tours it to several venues in northern Bremen and the surrounding area.[1]
History
The group's production history begins in 1979 with Ephraim Kishon's Der Trauschein. Since then it has staged a new play almost every year, with two productions in 1981, 1990 and 1996. No performances took place in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[2] In 2026 the Weser-Kurier described the group as having been part of Bremen's amateur theatre scene for more than four decades.[1]
Repertoire
The repertoire consists almost entirely of comedies and farces, mostly German versions of English-language boulevard comedies. Plays by Ray Cooney, often written with John Chapman, recur throughout its history; several titles, including Wie wär's denn, Mrs. Markham?, Boeing Boeing and Murder by Sex, have been staged more than once.[2] The group rehearses in a cellar at the Farger Bernhardring.[1]

Its autumn productions usually open in the hall of the Protestant parish in Farge and continue at venues such as the Vegesack shooting club, the Rekumer Hof and, in some years, the village community centre in Platjenwerbe (Ritterhude).[1][3][4]
Organisation
The Farger Theater is a registered association (e. V.), entered in the register of associations at the Bremen local court.[5] It belongs to the LandesVerband Bremer AmateurTheater (BAT) e.V.; in 2012 a member of the Farger Theater was elected to the association's board as an assessor.[6]
