The Freihunga Theatergrupp'm e. V. (Theatergruppe Freihung) is an amateur theatre club in the market town of Freihung in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach, Upper Palatinate, Germany. Founded in 1993, it stages a Bavarian comedy or farce almost every year.[1]
History
The group was founded in 1993 by Ida Rittner together with other theatre enthusiasts. Rittner had first appeared on stage in Freihung in 1930 at the age of six and for decades played a leading part whenever theatre was performed in the town. In 2018, then living in Landsberg am Lech, she received the silver badge of honour of the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. and a certificate for 25 years of membership.[1] The group's first recorded programme, in 1994, consisted of three short plays written and directed by Rittner.[2]
Repertoire
The group performs Bavarian rural comedies and farces.[2]
