G.T.E.V. Aubergler Poing e. V. (Gebirgs-Trachten-Erhaltungsverein) is a traditional costume association in Poing in the district of Ebersberg, Upper Bavaria, Germany, whose theatre group stages a Bavarian comedy each spring. The association emerged from a young men's club (Burschenverein) in 1983 and was entered in the register of associations in 1997.[1]
History
The association celebrated its 15th anniversary in October 1998. At its general meeting on 27 November 1996 it adopted a statute and decided to register as Gebirgs Trachten Erhaltungsverein Aubergler Poing e.V.; the entry in the register of associations at the Ebersberg local court followed on 23 July 1997. The name Aubergler refers to the gently rolling hills between Poing and Ottersberg formed by Ice Age glaciers, known as the Au. The statute names the care and transmission of traditional dress and local customs as the association's purpose, including Schuhplattler, costume dances, folk music, folk song, amateur theatre in dialect, and youth work. A youth group was founded in February 1996; in 1997 the association had 39 members and 50 children and young people in its youth group.[1]
Theatre in the association began in 1983, when a one-act play was performed at the Christmas party of the former Burschenverein. Its success led to annual one-act plays and guest performances at other clubs. In 1993 the group staged its first three-act play, Hermann Schuster's Der dalkerte Bua, three times in the Poing parish hall. As the parish hall became too small, the group moved in 1997 to the hall (Aula) of the Poing secondary school, opening there with Kurbetrieb beim Kräuter Blasi; since then, performances have been accompanied by catering and live music in the intervals.[2]
Repertoire
The group plays Bavarian rural comedies, usually over two weekends in April or May. Its own list of productions skips several years (1994–1996, 2008, 2016 and 2020–2022), and gives no author for some plays.[2] In 2026 the group, led by Christian Falterer and Lucia Schimpf and comprising about 40 members, staged Cornelia Willinger's three-act comedy Ach du lieber Gott! with nine actors in the hall of the primary school on Karl-Sittler-Straße.[3]
