Häwwich-Theater Busenberg is an amateur theatre group based in Busenberg, in the Südwestpfalz district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.[1] Founded in 2000, it stages a play for adults each autumn and a play for children each spring, and also runs dance groups and the village's carnival sessions.[2]
History
The group was founded in 2000; its first production that year, the children's play Im wilden Westen mit Big Berta, was combined with the founding celebration.[2][3] Its logo, inspired by the ruins of Drachenfels Castle near Busenberg, shows a dragon with two theatre masks.[2]
From 2005 the group took part in organising the carnival Prunksitzungen in Busenberg, and since 2006 it has staged them itself under the name Busebercher Drachedeeder, its carnival section, which also takes part in carnival parades in the surrounding area.[4] In October 2015 the musical Ein Sommernachtstraum marked the group's 15th anniversary on stage; it was the group's third musical and had more than 60 participants, and for the first time the ensemble was accompanied by a five-piece live band.[5]
Repertoire
The group presents an adult production, mostly comedies, in autumn and a children's play, often based on well-known children's books and fairy tales and performed by children and adults together, in spring. About every five years its theatre, music and dance sections join for a musical.[2][5]
