Hördter Klosterbühne e.V. is an amateur theatre group based in Hördt, Germersheim district, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.[1] Founded in 1984, it stages one comedy each November in Hördt under the motto Novemberzeit ist Theaterzeit ("November is theatre time").[1][2]
History
The group traces its origins to a children's performance in 1983, in which parents played the fairy tale Rumpelstilzchen; regular November productions followed from 1984. The group marked its 30th anniversary in 2014 with the comedy Castinglust und Rollenfrust.[3]
After the 2019 production the group did not perform for several years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and its cast shrank in that period.[4][5] It returned in November 2023 with the crime comedy Meine Leiche, Deine Leiche. Because the hall could not be booked early enough to build scenery, the group switched at short notice to a play that could be staged with few props; players from befriended ensembles in Rülzheim and Westheim joined the cast.[4] After two performances in Hördt, a third followed as a guest performance in April 2024.[6]
For its 40th anniversary in 2024 the group staged Andreas Heck's play-within-a-play comedy Dieses mal was mit Niveau!. The 2025 production, with several new players, was the last on the group's old stage; a new stage is used from 2026.[7] The 2026 production is the comedy Kaufhaus in Trouble.[8]
Repertoire
The group performs comedies and crime comedies, usually with three or four performances each November.[2][7]
