The Haager Komödienbrettl e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Haag an der Amper in the district of Freising, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1990, it stages contemporary Bavarian comedies, most of them written for the group by the local author Reinhard Seibold.[1]

History

Christiane Müller founded the Haager Komödienbrettl in autumn 1990; Gerlinde Müller took over the group in 1995. From the start the group did not want to play the usual Bauerntheater or Bavarian farces, but to look at the spirit of the time in an entertaining, ironic and sometimes earthy way. Reinhard Seibold, a customs officer from Untermarchenbach, wrote many of its plays; according to the laudation of the district of Freising, his texts have been published, partly transferred into other dialects such as Swabian, and are performed throughout Germany and Austria.[1] In 2013 Seibold wrote that he had written a play for the group every year for 17 years.[2]

In 2004 the group staged the open-air musical Servus Bockerl by Reinhard Seibold, with music by Christoph Schmid and Tobias Seibold, for the 1200th anniversary of Haag in front of the former Haag railway station. It recalled the local railway known as the Holledauer Bockerl and was seen, according to the district, by well over 4,000 spectators.[1] The group celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2025.[3]

Repertoire

The group usually stages one comedy a year; in some years it has also performed sketch and cabaret programmes.[4] In 2025 Wir bleiben noch brought 18 actors on stage, telling four stories in episodes.[5]
