The Haardter Balkontheater is an amateur theatre group based in Haardt, a district of Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.[1] Founded as an association in 2011, it stages one comedy per season, usually in Palatine German dialect, with performances in Haardt and in the Festhalle of Lindenberg.[1][2][3]
History
The association was founded on 10 May 2011 in Haardt. It presented its first two productions, both by Hans Schimmel, in spring 2012 and spring 2013. In summer 2013 the group reorganised with some changes in personnel and, after a short break, moved its performances to the autumn.[1] When the gymnasium in Haardt was being renovated in 2019, the group moved to a new venue in the village. After the 2019 production it paused during the COVID-19 pandemic and returned to the stage in autumn 2023 with Für immer Disco.[1][3]
Repertoire
The group performs comedies in Palatine dialect, one production per season. Each production has a few performances in Haardt and in Lindenberg, usually in autumn and sometimes continuing into January.[1][2][4]

Until 2018 the group played in Haardt in the gymnasium (Turnhalle) of the local sports club TuS Haardt, and in the Festhalle in Lindenberg.[4][1] In 2019 it moved to the Künstlerkeller of the Weingut Weegmüller winery in Haardt. Since the winery changed hands, the group has played in Haardt in a privately owned vaulted wine cellar (Gewölbekeller), while keeping the Festhalle in Lindenberg as its second venue.[1][3]
