The Heimatbühne Palling e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Palling in the district of Traunstein, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1946 as the successor of a village theatre company established in 1912, it stages a Bavarian comedy each autumn in the hall of the Michlwirt inn.[1]
History
Theatre in Palling goes back to 1912, when the Pallinger Theatergemeinschaft was founded under Ludwig Miesgang (1883–1934), known as "Schneider Lucki". Miesgang wrote comedies himself and adapted dramas such as Genoveva, Seemannsbraut and Agnes Bernauer for the Palling stage; he also staged a Passion play with 90 participants from the village and his own drama Leonore. After his death on 28 December 1934, theatre in Palling ceased because of the political situation. In 1946 a group of villagers founded the Heimatbühne Palling, which has since staged more than 100 different plays. Its audience comes from the surrounding area and in groups from cities such as Stuttgart, Munich and Augsburg.[1]
Repertoire
The group's repertoire includes plays by authors such as Maximilian Vitus, Franz Schaurer, Max Neal, Max Ferner, Ludwig Thoma, Kurt Wilhelm, Franz von Kobell and Alois Johannes Lippl.[1] It performs every autumn, with a matinée for children and senior citizens and, by long tradition, a free performance for people with disabilities and their companions.[2][3] The 2026 production, Anton Hamik's three-act comedy Der verkaufte Großvater, directed by Heidi Jung, premiered on 24 October 2026 and is scheduled for 16 evening performances until 5 December.[2] There were no productions in 2008, 2020 and 2021.[4]
