History
In 1979 a group of theatre enthusiasts in Buchenberg came together to stage local history. The Munich writer Carl-Oskar Renner, a member of the Turmschreiber society, had written the play Die Schlacht am Buchenberg about the history of the market town and offered it to the village; this marked the birth of the Historisches Theater Buchenberg. Further plays on local history followed, most recently Gösers 1819. The association sees its task in keeping the history of Buchenberg alive; by 2010 it had supported the Buchenberger Historische Tage three times with excerpts from its plays and with its historical costumes and props.[1]
Repertoire
Besides plays on local history, the association has staged works by Arthur Maximilian Miller (Agath and Das Bachtelmännle) and six seasons of its Buchenberger Valentinaden, programmes after Karl Valentin. Its youth members regularly perform children's plays and musicals.[1] In 2024 the young ensemble, produced by Philipp Laminet and directed by Lena Burger, staged the Grimm fairy tale Der Teufel und seine drei goldenen Haare, which premiered on 10 August 2024 in the parish hall in Buchenberg.[2][3]
