History
In 1987 parents at the Protestant kindergarten in Holle decided to contribute a play to the kindergarten's summer festival. They wrote their own script of Rumpelstilzchen, adding a clownish servant character to keep the tension bearable for young children, and premiered it on 16 May 1987 in the music hall of the Holle primary school, which the group regards as its founding date. The local newspaper Rund um Bockenem described it as the highlight of the festival. Some of the original cast are still active in the group.[1]
According to the group, more than 60,000 spectators have seen its productions.[3]
Repertoire
The adult ensemble stages comedies and crime plays, while the children's and youth groups perform fairy tales and children's classics.[3] Productions include Blaues Blut und Erbsensuppe, Appartement mit eigenem Mord, Charleys Tante, Gärtner sterben stets im Herbst, Und ewig rauschen die Gelder, Die Mausefalle (The Mousetrap), Das Oslo-Syndrom and Und das am Hochzeitsmorgen for adults, and Peterchens Mondfahrt, Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren, Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot, Eine Woche voller Samstage, Aladin und die Wunderlampe and Peter Pan for children.[4]
In 2025 the adults performed Alles in Butter and the children Das kleine Schlossgespenst. In spring 2026 the comedy Dreimal schwarzer Kater sold out all nine performances; the proceeds of the last performance were donated to the Hildesheim animal shelter. The children's production in 2026 is the fairy tale Cinderella und der grüne Schuh.[3]
Organisation
Its theatre hall is on the first floor of the Holle primary school.[2]
