The ImproTheater Chamäleon is an amateur improvisational theatre group based in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany. It was formed in 1998 from youth groups of the LSK Theater Mainburg and has played regular improv shows in Regensburg since 2002.[1]
History
The members of the group had played since the late 1980s in the amateur theatre association LSK-Theater Mainburg St. Salvator e. V.; the Chamäleon grew out of its youth groups "Die Krümels", "Die Piranhas" and "Die Bambinis" in 1998, and its first shows followed from 1999. As many members went on to study in Regensburg, the city became the group's new centre. From 2002 the group played monthly improv shows in the STATT-Theater Regensburg, and from 2003 improv matches every two months in the Alte Mälze. In 2006 it consisted of eleven players with different professions, accompanied by musicians, and also gave workshops and guest performances.[1] In 2018 it celebrated "20 Jahre Chamäleon – 10 Jahre ImproMarathon".[2]
Repertoire
The group plays improvised shows on changing themes, such as crime and Halloween specials, an Advent calendar show and an improvised review of the year, as well as business theatre for companies.[3] Every summer it organises the Chamäleon ImproMarathon on the stage of the Turmtheater Regensburg with international guest players.[4]

The group's shows take place in Regensburg, currently at Watmarkt 5 (the Turmtheater) and Winklergasse 16.[3][4]
