The Kieselbach-Bühne im MTV Gifhorn is the amateur theatre section of the sports club MTV Gifhorn in Gifhorn, Lower Saxony, Germany.[1] Founded in 1968 by Erwin Kieselbach, after whom its members are called the "Kieselbacher", it stages one comedy each autumn.[1]
History
Erwin Kieselbach founded the amateur stage within the MTV Gifhorn in 1968. Since then the group has staged a play almost every year; from 1968 to 1973 it also performed a children's fairy tale each year. In 2018 it marked the stage's 50th anniversary by reviving Die Bar zur alten Eule, which it had first performed in 1974. No productions are listed for 2020 to 2023.[1][2]
Repertoire
The group deliberately avoids "heavy fare such as Faust or Don Carlos" in favour of comedies ranging from farce to boulevard theatre.[1] Its fairy-tale productions were Gabys Weihnachtstraum (1968), Pixi und Pax im Zauberland (1969), Die Pilz-Jule (1970), Die goldene Kugel (1971), Der kleine Zinnsoldat (1972) and Der Schokoladenautomat (1973).[2]
