The Neichinger Schupfatheater is the amateur theatre of the Kulturverein Neuching e. V. in Neuching in the district of Erding, Upper Bavaria, Germany. It began in 2004 in a barn (Schupfa in Bavarian dialect) and stages a Bavarian comedy every October; since 2024 it has performed in the multi-purpose room of Neuching's new sports hall.[1]
History
According to the group, there had been no theatre in Neuching for almost 30 years when Markus Sedlmeir and Florian Fink came up with the idea of a new theatre group one evening over a few beers. Klaus Schuchardt, who overheard the conversation, offered his barn as a venue, and an advertisement in the local newsletter attracted enough actors to begin rehearsals. The barn was converted to seat up to 110 spectators, and the first production, Theo Musselmann's one-act play A Rindviech bleibt a Rindviech, premiered on 8 October 2004. After its success the group took on a three-act play the following year.[1]
In May 2005 the members founded the Kulturverein Neuching e. V., which also organises other cultural activities in the village, and in January 2007 it joined the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. After almost 20 years in the Schuchardt barn, the theatre moved in October 2024 to the multi-purpose room of the municipality's new sports hall.[1]
Repertoire
The group mainly performs Bavarian comedies and farces; no productions took place in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]
