The Laienspielgruppe Rimpar e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Rimpar, in the district of Würzburg, Lower Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. Theatre has been played in Rimpar by an informal group since 1977, and the association was founded in 1994; its main event is an autumn season of one-act plays (Theaterherbst) in its own small theatre, the Kulisse, in the Maidbronn district.[1][2]
History
A theatre interest group played its first piece, Das Brautwerbertrio, in the Bischof-Schmitt-Haus in 1977, and audiences were so large that plays were performed up to twelve times a season. The association was formally founded by seven founding members on 10 June 1994. In 1996 the group moved its performances to the courtyard of Rimpar Castle and expanded them into the Rimparer Theatersommer with cabaret, music and other events. Rehearsals moved from the parish barn to the old school in Maidbronn, which members converted themselves into the Kulisse. After a change of leadership in April 2013, when Frank Hochstetter succeeded Adolf Albert, the group returned to rural folk theatre and held its first Theaterherbst with three one-act plays in the Kulisse in autumn 2013; it also became a founding member of a local association for children's and youth work and set up a children's theatre group.[1]
In 2015 the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. selected the group from more than 640 member stages to perform its Franconian version of Dinner for One at its annual meeting in Simbach am Inn. In 2016 its Theaterherbst sold more than 1,000 tickets for the first time, and in 2018 it gave 18 performances of Die Sache mit der Ewigkeit at the Bavarian State Garden Show in Würzburg. After the closure during the COVID-19 pandemic it returned in autumn 2021 with Urlaub al Dente and Bauer sucht Sau, followed in 2022 by a summer production of Der Schneewittchenfluch.[1]
Venue
The group's home is the Kulisse in the former school at Riemenschneiderstraße 18 in Maidbronn, which it has used for more than ten years for rehearsals, set building and performances.[1]
