The Leine-Bühne Hemmingen e.V. is an amateur theatre group in Hemmingen near Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany.[1] Formed in summer 2005, it stages one production each year, traditionally in February, in Hemmingen's youth culture centre, ranging from comedies and crime plays to classics.[2][3]
History
In summer 2005 a handful of theatre enthusiasts got together and looked for a rehearsal space and permanent venue in Hemmingen, which they found in the Jugend-Kultur-Haus on Hohe Bünte. After a press appeal the ensemble grew, and its first production, Agatha Christie's Mord um halb sieben, in February 2006, was so well received that the number of performances was increased the following year. With Molière's Der eingebildete Kranke in 2009 the group added classics to its repertoire.[2] No production is listed for 2021.[4] Its 20th production, Die Elstern (2026), was seen by about 780 spectators in six sold-out performances; on that occasion the Amateurtheaterverband Niedersachsen e. V. honoured the group's chairman and director Matthias Schiller with its badge of honour.[5]
