Lichtspielbühne Rhein-Mosel e.V. is an amateur theatre group based in Rhens, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.[1] Formed in 2011 as a theatre ensemble of the local adult education centre, it mainly stages comedies, several of them written within the group, and also produces short films.[2][3]
History
The "Lichtspielbühne" was founded in 2011 by three people following a joint theatre project and was run as the theatre ensemble of the VHS Rhens, a Volkshochschule. Within four years it staged three productions, all based on material developed by the ensemble itself. In 2015 the ensemble formed a non-profit association, Lichtspielbühne Rhein-Mosel e.V.[2] The association was founded in Rhens on 8 June 2015.[1]
Repertoire
The group's productions are mostly comedies. Its first productions were plays written by members of the ensemble; from 2016 it also staged comedies by other playwrights such as Ray Cooney.[3] The ensemble is cast anew for each production, with a rehearsal period of about three to four months, and members also work on set, props, costumes and technical work.[2]
