Mundarttheater Bruchweiler is an amateur theatre group in Bruchweiler-Bärenbach in the Dahner Felsenland, Südwestpfalz district, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Founded in 1984, it stages one comedy a year in Palatine German dialect.[1][2]
History
The group was founded in 1984.[1] The regional newspaper Die Rheinpfalz described it in 2015 as having existed for 30 years,[3] and the 2024 season was presented as the group's 40th anniversary year.[4][2]
On 24 January 2018 the group was entered by the Bund Deutscher Amateurtheater (BDAT) in its list of theatres taking part in the "Regionale Vielfalt der Mundarttheater in Deutschland" (regional diversity of dialect theatre in Germany), an entry in the German nationwide inventory of intangible cultural heritage.[1][5]
No productions took place in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[6] The performances planned for 2023 were cancelled because of illness among members; the group returned to the stage in 2024.[7]
Repertoire
The group plays three-act comedies and farces by contemporary authors of the amateur stage, adapted into the local dialect and given local colour; titles are sometimes changed from the original.[3][5] A season usually comprises six or seven performances.[1][8]
| Year | Title | Author | Notes |

| 2018 | Turbulenzen im Greisenglück | Bernd Gombold | Original title Dreistes Stück im Greisenglück[5][1] |
| 2019 | Rache ist süß | Beate Irmisch | Original title Auch Saubermänner haben ein Verfallsdatum[9] |
| 2022 | Alles bestens geregelt | Bernd Gombold | [6] |
| 2024 | Drei Stufen ins Glück | Hans Lellis | 40th anniversary season[2][4] |
| 2025 | Der Geist im Rathaus | Hans Schimmel | [8] |
Venue
The group performs in the Sängerheim, the hall of the male voice choir MGV „Waldeslust“ Bruchweiler, at Dorfstraße 2a in Bruchweiler.[7] From at least 2018 to 2024 the final performance of each season was given at the Otfried-von-Weißenburg-Theater in Dahn;[5][4] in 2025 all performances took place in the Sängerheim.[8] An extension of the Sängerheim added a room next to the stage for the theatre group, which contributed to its cost.[10]
Organisation
Besides its own production, the group's annual programme includes a New Year gathering, a group excursion and visits to performances of befriended amateur theatres in the region and in neighbouring Alsace.[1]
