The Musical Company Kaisheim e. V. is an amateur musical theatre association in Kaisheim in the district of Donau-Ries, Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 2019 by former members of the musical company of the Gymnasium Donauwörth, it stages a large musical every one to two years and gives concerts and matinées.[1]
History
The association was founded in May 2019 by former members of the musical company of the Gymnasium Donauwörth, who wanted to continue performing musicals after leaving school. Its first public appearance was at the Lichternacht in Donauwörth on 19 November 2019.[2] After the break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it gave its first large concert, Facetten der Liebe, in December 2021, followed by a benefit evening and an open-air concert at Harburg Castle in 2022 and a Christmas concert in the church of Kaisheim Abbey.[2]
Its first large musical production, Sister Act, was given eight performances in November 2023 in the Alte Turnhalle in Kaisheim and was funded by the IMPULS programme of the Bundesmusikverband Chor & Orchester.[2] In 2024 the group marked the 890th anniversary of Kaisheim Abbey with the programme Geheimnisvolles Mittelalter, which it also performed at the Stadtmauerfest in Nördlingen in 2025. Ghost – The Musical followed in May and June 2025, with additional performances because of high demand and a guest performance at the Kulturhaus Abraxas in Augsburg.[2] In 2026 the association launched a fundraising campaign for its own audience grandstand.[2]
Repertoire
Besides its musicals the company performs concerts in various styles and line-ups, including Christmas concerts, the sing-along serenade MachMitMusik with the Bühnentreff Kaisheim, and summer matinées; it has its own live band.[1]
