The Neue Bühne Ichenhausen e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Ichenhausen in the district of Günzburg, Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. Since 1999 it has staged a main production almost every year, mostly comedies and classics of world drama, in the Dilldappersaal of the Hotel Weißes Ross in Ichenhausen, occasionally also in the open air.[1][2]
History
In 1999 the group staged Carlo Goldoni's Krach in Chiozza. Between 2003 and 2006 it also staged children's plays; after Käpten Knitterbart it did not return to children's theatre until 2025.[1][3] In 2017 its production of Die Feuerzangenbowle after Heinrich Spoerl was covered by the Günzburger Zeitung.[4] In spring 2020 the remaining performances of Urs Widmer's Top Dogs were cancelled.[4] The group resumed in June 2022 with an open-air production of Schiller's Die Räuber, which opened on 18 June 2022.[4][5] In 2024 it began experimenting with a new format, Erzähltheater (storytelling theatre), in which folk tales from oral traditions around the world are told with theatrical means and music, starting with Bruder Lustig trommelt after the Brothers Grimm, accompanied by African drums.[6]
Repertoire
The main production usually premieres in March and is performed about eight times.[6][7] The repertoire includes comedies and satires by authors such as Alan Ayckbourn, Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Sławomir Mrożek and Urs Widmer, as well as classics by Shakespeare, Gogol and Molière.[1]
