The Pleaninga Theaterbagasch e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Pliening in the district of Ebersberg, Upper Bavaria, Germany. It continues a village theatre tradition going back to 1886; the present group was formed in 1977 by members of the local young men's association and became an independent registered association in 1996. It stages a Bavarian comedy every January in the Bürgerhaus Pliening.[1]
History
According to a 1936 book of the district of Ebersberg, amateur plays were first performed in Gelting-Pliening in 1886 at the Alter Wirt inn (now Landgasthof Forchhammer); the proceeds, mostly from serious character plays, went towards the tower of the Holy Cross church in Pliening. In 1907 the young men of the village formed an association for the first time. Performances stopped during the First World War and resumed in 1920 in the newly built Greimelsaal in Gelting, where a stage built in 1926 by the carpenter Ludwig Schuler was used until 1960. The last performance before the Second World War, Jägerblut, was in 1940.[1]
The theatre was revived in autumn 1945 with special permission from the American military government in Ebersberg and toured to Aschheim, Kirchseeon and Hohenlinden. After the currency reform of 20 June 1948 the association was dissolved because it could not pay the fees demanded by GEMA; the singing club and the costume club continued to stage plays under Josef Lutz until about 1960.[1] In 1977 members of the Burschenverein Pliening formed a new amateur theatre group, which staged Tumult in Hacklbach on 14 April 1977, the first play in the village for about 18 years. The Pleaninga Theaterbagasch was founded as a separate association on 12 April 1996, when the theatre group split from the Burschenverein.[1]
Repertoire
The group rehearses over the Christmas period and presents a Bavarian comedy each January; in spring it also gives a variety programme, the Bunte Bühne, in the Theaterstüberl in the old school building in Gelting.[1] Its production of 2026, Boazeria, was reviewed by the Ebersberger Zeitung.[2]

Venue
As there was no suitable hall in Pliening, the group played from 1977 in the school gymnasium. Since January 2002 it has played in the Bürgerhaus Pliening (Geltinger Straße 43).[1][4] The Theaterstüberl is in the old school building in Gelting (Markt Schwabener Straße 10).[1][4]
