’s Zollinger Theater e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Zolling in the Amper valley, district of Freising, Bavaria, Germany. It was founded in 2000 to continue the theatre tradition of the local Burschenverein (young men's association), which had staged plays since 1929, and alternates a theatre production with a Starkbierfest every other year.[1][2]
History
The Burschenverein Zolling began staging plays in 1929. Georg Kranz directed its productions from 1963 to 1997; his best-known production was Der Brandner Kaspar schaut ins Paradies, staged in 1986 and 1994.[1] In 2000, under Kranz's leadership, the theatre group became an independent association, mainly to share the workload, to include older actors who no longer belonged to the Burschenverein, and for organisational reasons such as insurance and membership in the Bavarian amateur theatre association. The association was founded on 10 March 2000; Georg Völkl was its first chairman, serving until autumn 2015. Its first production, Die drei Eisbären, directed by Elisabeth Forster, premiered on Easter Sunday, 23 April 2000.[1]
After 2000 the direction rotated between Elisabeth Forster, Georg Brandmaier, Hans Schopf and later Georg Völkl; from 2012 to 2017 Forster directed all productions.[1] Since 2012 the association has alternated a theatre production with a Starkbierfest featuring cabaret and sketches by its members, and it also hosts guest performers.[1][3] In 2017 it was entered in the register of associations.[1][2] The 2017 production Liebestöter had a larger cast than the 2013 production Der Geisterbräu, which already had more than 30 performers.[4] In 2019 more than 1,000 spectators saw Das Dorfjubiläum in the Bürgerhaus.[5] The Starkbierfest planned for March 2020 was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic; in October 2021 the association decided to return to the stage at Easter 2022.[6] It celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025.[7]
