’s Brucker Brett’l e. V. is an amateur theatre association from Fürstenfeldbruck, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Since 1976 it has staged Bavarian comedies and other plays twice a year, since 1981 in its own theatre, the Brett’l-Scheune (Brett’l barn) at the former Steffelwirt inn in Biburg, a village in the municipality of Alling; it also has a children's and youth theatre.[1][2]
History
Its first performance, in summer 1976, consisted of four one-act plays, directed by Norbert Zoglmeier and Franz Neuhierl; in the first years it played short pieces and then full-length comedies, usually one in spring and one in autumn.[3] In July 1981 it played in the light court of Fürstenfeld Abbey; the first premiere in Biburg followed in autumn 1981 with Das Fenster zum Flur by Curth Flatow and Horst Pillau, which ran for 14 performances. In December 1981 the group's children first performed a play for children.[4] For the 725th anniversary of Fürstenfeld Abbey in 1988 the group staged Ludwig der Strenge in the abbey courtyard.[4] In the 1980s and 1990s the main productions typically ran for 15 to 20 performances; Der Brandner Kaspar was played in three consecutive seasons in 1993–94.[4][5] From 2014 to 2019 the group also played a one-act play each spring for the strong-beer tapping of the Kaltenberg brewery.[6] In 2020 the spring production could be given only three times because of the COVID-19 pandemic; the productions of autumn 2020, spring 2021 and spring 2022 were cancelled.[7][8]
Repertoire
The repertoire consists mainly of Bavarian comedies and farces, often by Bavarian authors such as Ludwig Thoma, Peter Landstorfer and Maximilian Vitus, together with boulevard comedies and occasional classics; Der Brandner Kaspar has been revived several times.[1][8] Since 1981 the group has staged a children's play almost every year, usually in December, including adaptations of works by Otfried Preußler, Paul Maar, Michael Ende and Christine Nöstlinger and fairy tales; since 2014 this has been a children's and youth theatre.[4][5][9]

Venue
The Brett’l-Scheune is a barn at the former Steffelwirt inn, Dorfstraße 7, in Biburg, opposite the village pond and maypole.[2] Some productions were staged elsewhere, for example in Fürstenfeld Abbey (1981, 1983, 1988) and in front of the barn (1995).[4][5] At the adult performances the Central Café provides catering, served by members of the association.[12]
Awards
In 2023 the group received second prize in the boulevard category of the sixth Bayerischer Amateurtheaterpreis (Larifari) of the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater for its production of Michael Frayn's Der nackte Wahnsinn, staged in autumn 2022 after more than 60 rehearsals; the prize, worth 300 euros, was presented on 27 October 2023 in Rosenheim.[10]
