The SoTheater Diez (SOTheater Diez – Verein zur Förderung von Theater und Bewegungskunst e. V.) is an amateur theatre association in Diez on the Lahn, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Founded in 2003, it stages an annual production in autumn and since 2017 has performed in the showroom of a local car dealership.[1]

History

From its founding in 2003 until autumn 2016, the theatre rehearsed, stored its material and presented performances at the annual Diezer Theatertage on the first floor of the Alter Fruchtspeicher, a historic granary. According to the association, this public use and its members' maintenance work slowed the building's decay, so that it could later be renovated and put to commercial use. Since the 2017 season the group has been a guest at the S&R car dealership of the Spies family in the Koblenzer Straße, which, in the absence of a municipal venue, supports the productions financially and with staff.[1]

Repertoire

The association's productions include Shakespeare's Richard III, Der nackte Wahnsinn (Noises Off), the Shakespeare parody DSDS – Diez sucht den Supershakespeare and a crime comedy by Curt Goetz. For its autumn 2026 production it also offers a "Theater mit Biss" evening combining the performance with food and drinks.[1]
