SpielRaum-Nea e. V. (also Spielraum NEA) is an amateur theatre association in Neustadt an der Aisch, Middle Franconia, Bavaria, Germany, active in the Aischgrund region. Initiated by the theatre educators Astrid Baugut and Mayet Gressenberger, it brings together amateurs and professionals and develops all its plays itself, scene by scene, often as performances accompanied by a dinner.[1][2]

History

Astrid Baugut and Mayet Gressenberger conceived the group's first production, Kein Bock, a time-travel story based on the local legend of the "Bock" during the siege of Neustadt by Albrecht Achilles. From late 2012, 26 children, young people and adults – the youngest six years old – rehearsed weekly; the play premiered on 30 June 2013 in the NeuStadtHalle as the finale of a festival of the local LEADER action group Aischgrund, before an almost full house.[3][2] According to the founders, their aim was to create a space where theatre, art and culture can be experienced by young and old, combining acting, music, movement, dance and voice.[2]

Repertoire

All productions are developed by the ensemble itself. The group has no permanent venue and often designs its plays to be experienced during a dinner, with one act per course.[1]
