The.a.d.A. e. V. (Theater an der Aisch) is an amateur theatre association from the area of Höchstadt an der Aisch in the district of Erlangen-Höchstadt, Bavaria, Germany. It was founded in 1998 by Edward König and former pupils of the Gymnasium Höchstadt and has been a registered association since 2007. The group stages modern drama and comedies, usually one production every two or three years.[1][2]
History
The.a.d.A. was founded in 1998 by Edward König and former pupils of the Gymnasium Höchstadt. Its first production, in 2000, was Yasmina Reza's Kunst with an initially four-member group; Der Tod und das Mädchen by Ariel Dorfman followed in 2001, when the group had about eight members, and John Godber's Bouncers in 2002, after which König stepped down as leader and director. He was succeeded by Sven Berwein; after two years of reorganisation, during which members who were not former pupils of the school were admitted for the first time, the group staged Dea Loher's Adam Geist in 2006.[1]
In April 2007 a founding meeting established the group as a registered association. In the same year it co-produced Oscar Wilde's Bunbury with the Künstlerwerkstatt e. V. from Stegaurach, its first performance away from the stage of the Gymnasium Höchstadt. Further productions were Ben Elton's Popcorn (2009) and Gabriel Barylli's Butterbrot (2011), the group's first all-male production, which was given again as a guest performance at the Mühlentheater in Möhrendorf in 2012. After a four-year break, it returned in 2016 with Max Frisch's Biografie: Ein Spiel, directed thereafter by Janine; membership rose to 23, the highest so far. In 2023, after a COVID-related break, it staged Alfonso Paso's crime comedy Sie könnten ein Mörder sein and looked back on 25 years.[1]
