Theater „Dicke Luft“ – Das Theater für alle Fälle (registered as Dicke Luft – Theater für alle Fälle e. V., usually just Dicke Luft) is an amateur theatre group in Speyer, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Founded in 1985, it stages at least one production of its own each year, mostly comedy, satire, adaptations of literary works and self-written revues, with an ensemble of about 25 active members.[1]
History
The group was founded in 1985 by theatre enthusiasts in Speyer; its first production that year was a variety show in the courtyard of the town hall.[1] It marked its 20th anniversary in February 2005 with a revue looking back on its productions.[1] Its 30th anniversary was celebrated in 2015 with a slapstick version of Shakespeare's The Tempest with live music and a chorus, in which eleven performers played almost 20 roles and the action was set in the middle of the hall.[2]
In March 2020 the group premiered Joël Pommerat's Die Wiedervereinigung der beiden Koreas with an eleven-member cast in Speyer's Heiliggeistkirche rather than its usual venue; during the interval the actors stayed in character in an onstage bistro.[3] The group's production list gives this play for 2020–22.[1] In 2024 the regional press reported a positive response from the premiere audience for the crime satire Adel vernichtet, which drew on sketches by Loriot for his 100th birthday and ran for eight performances.[4]
Repertoire
The group describes its repertoire as comedy, satire, offbeat literary adaptations, humorous scene programmes and revues written by its own members. Besides plays by authors such as Yasmina Reza, Neil Simon and Fitzgerald Kusz, many of its productions are texts written by its own members.[1]
