The Theater Alzgern e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Alzgern, a district of Neuötting in the district of Altötting, Bavaria, Germany. It was launched by the theatre maker, author and actor Bernhard "Hank" Höfellner with a production of Kleist's Der zerbrochne Krug marking the completion of Alzgern's village renewal.[1]

History

The association was founded by Hank Höfellner, whose production of Der zerbrochene Krug was staged as part of the conclusion of the village renewal (Dorferneuerung) in Alzgern; the local press reported on the production in 2015.[1] That year it presented Dornröschen in a version by Höfellner at the summer festival of the Paulusstift in Neuötting and at the parish festival in Alzgern, and in November 2016 Der grüne Bogenschütze, freely adapted by Höfellner from Edgar Wallace, in cooperation with the Workshop Orange from Gumpersdorf, in the hall of the Gasthof Brandhof in Alzgern and at the Gasthof Linde in Gumpersdorf.[1]

In 2023, according to Höfellner's website, the cultural scene of Alzgern split: the association he had founded went its own way, while Höfellner launched the separate project Theater In(n) Alzgern, whose first production was Erben ist nichts für Feiglinge.[1]

Venue

In 2016 the association played in the hall of the Gasthof Brandhof in Alzgern.[1]
