The Theater Rednitzhembach e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Rednitzhembach in the district of Roth, Middle Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. Starting more than 60 years ago as a small touring company, it has grown into a theatre with its own house in Rednitzhembach, staging comedies, classics, musicals and children's plays.[1]
History
According to the association, it began as a small touring stage (Wanderbühne) and developed into a theatre with an ensemble known beyond Rednitzhembach. Its chronicle records celebrations of its 50th and 60th anniversaries, a youth culture prize of the district of Roth, and performances of Anatevka at the old-town festival in Nuremberg. The association has hosted the 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th Bavarian youth theatre days (Bayerische Jugendtheatertage).[1][2]
Repertoire
The association's productions include several stagings of Eugène Labiche's Der Florentiner Hut, Shakespeare's Die Zähmung der Widerspenstigen, Brecht's Die Dreigroschenoper, Goldoni's Der Lügner, the musicals Anatevka and Im weißen Rössl, Der Brandner Kaspar, Die 39 Stufen after John Buchan and Alfred Hitchcock, Don Camillo und Peppone, Die Welle, Fitzgerald Kusz's Schweig, Bub!, Bavarian and Franconian comedies, and children's plays such as Die Schatzinsel and Das Dschungelbuch.[2] In autumn 2026 the association is staging Der Hexer after Edgar Wallace.[3]
Organisation
The association is financed by donations, membership fees and voluntary work. Its overall artistic direction lies with Jörg Deffner, who has also written stage versions for the group.[1][2] Long-standing members have received the silver pin of the Bund Deutscher Amateurtheater (BDAT) and the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V.[4]
