Theaterfreunde Bayerdilling e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Bayerdilling, a village of the town of Rain in the Donau-Ries district, Bavaria, Germany.[1] It began in 1974 as the amateur drama group of the local choral society and has been an independent association since 2004; it stages folk comedies in Bavarian dialect.[2][3]
History
A village folk stage not organised as a club had existed in Bayerdilling after the Second World War. In 1974, on the initiative of Paul Hopfenzitz, the choral society (Gesangverein) added an amateur drama group; Hopfenzitz was both chairman of the society and director of the group until 1981. The stage has been a member of the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. since 1 December 1983. Since 1993 the plays have been directed by Elfriede Kunzmann and Karl Golling. In 2003 the group started a Starkbierfest (strong-beer festival) evening with sketches, a musical play and local humour, which grew to up to five performances. In 2004 the theatre players left the choral society, and on 29 July 2004 the Theaterfreunde Bayerdilling e. V. was founded as a registered association.[2]
Repertoire
The group performs one play a year around Christmas, usually a comedy in three acts; in later years productions have taken place every one or two years, with breaks in 2011 and 2020.[2][3]
