Theatergesellschaft Malters
The Theatergesellschaft Malters (Engl. Theatre Society Malters) is an amateur theatre association in the municipality of Malters in the Canton of Lucerne, Switzerland. It was founded in 1852 and is still active today.[1]
History
While there is evidence for theatre activities in Malters since 1737, the actual Theatergesellschaft Malters was founded in 1852 "for the purpose of mutual teaching and entertainment".[2]
The Theatergesellschaft Malters fosters also a tradition of staging plays for children and teenagers, beginning in the late 1960s up to today.[3] Since 2017 the Theatergesellschaft Malters performs and designs selected productions especially for older people and residents of nursing homes in order to facilitate theatrical experiences to those unable to visit performances in a standard theatre setting.[4][2]
