Theatergruppe Dürnsricht/Wolfring e. V. is an amateur theatre association in the parish of Dürnsricht-Wolfring in the municipality of Fensterbach, district of Schwandorf, Upper Palatinate, Bavaria, Germany.[1] The association was founded in 2008, continuing a parish theatre tradition; it stages an autumn play in the Jugendheim Wolfring.[2][3]
History
According to older residents, plays were already performed in the parish at the beginning of the 20th century, first in the old inn and in the castle courtyard, with guest performances in Nabburg and the Vils valley. In 1954, when the estate administration provided the converted old brewhouse to the Catholic rural youth, it became a youth centre in which, under chaplain Alois Schindler, the rural youth or the church choir staged at least two evenings a year of one-act and three-act plays and musical plays. Under his successor, parish priest Johann Gruber, the group performed well-known three-act plays at carnival and in autumn, including two plays written by Gruber himself; one of them, Die Ölpest, was revived after exactly 20 years with almost the same cast for his farewell. The group also staged plays by Agatha Christie, such as Die Mausefalle and the German version of And Then There Were None. On 7 August 2008, 16 founding members established the association Theatergruppe Dürnsricht-Wolfring e. V.[2]
Repertoire
Besides rural comedies the group has performed crime plays and occasionally children's theatre. Undated earlier productions listed by the group include Der heilige Korbinian und die falsche Braut, Besuch in der Laurenzinacht, Die Frau des Pilatus, Die tolle Kathrein and Fahr ma, Euer Gnaden.[2][4]
