Theatergruppe „Lampenfieber“ Wassenach is an amateur theatre group in Wassenach, Ahrweiler district, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Formed in December 1996, it stages one comedy each autumn in the village's Klieburghalle.[1][2]
History
The group was formed after a call for participants in the local official gazette at the turn of 1996/97, which presented the project as a chance to revive an older Wassenach theatre tradition. Sixteen people aged between 19 and 70 responded; the idea came from a resident who was then a member of a theatre group in Rengsdorf. The first rehearsals took place in a private living room, and the municipality then provided its hall for weekly rehearsals. The first production, Blaues Blut und Kromperesupp (adapted from the comedy Blaues Blut und Erbsensuppe), premiered on 18 October 1997, the eve of the village's first potato festival (Kromperefest), in the newly built Klieburghalle.[1][3]
In 1999 the group started a children's theatre group for ages 9 to 15, which was given up after four years for lack of new young members. For Die unglaubliche Geschichte vom gestohlenen Stinkkäs in 2001, set in a carpenter's workshop, rehearsals were moved to a local joinery. The set for Das Tal der Suppen in 2009 was designed with a local artist, and part of it was later placed in the entrance of the Klieburg-Scheune built that year. The group gave guest performances at the village festival in Brenk in 2009 and 2012, but decided not to repeat them because of the effort of moving the sets.[1] In 2022 several members were honoured by the Landesverband Amateurtheater Rheinland-Pfalz.[3]
According to its undated self-description on the municipal website, the group had staged 25 plays and had 30 members, aged 27 to 83, from Wassenach and six other municipalities.[2]
Repertoire
The group plays comedies, farces and Lustspiele, usually one production a year with four performances in October and November.[1][4] Its website lists 27 plays performed up to 2025, among them Maximilian der Starke, Ramba Zamba am Lido Maccaroni, Die Gedächtnislücke, Mit Küchenbenutzung, Zoff off'm Hoff, Wenn die Moral beim Teufel ist, Wohin mit der Leiche?, Frauenpower, Othello darf nicht platzen (the German version of Lend Me a Tenor), Hannes ist der Beste, Hurra ein Junge, Tratsch im Treppenhaus, Be(t)reutes Wohnen, Charlys Tante (after Charley's Aunt), Der Grillclub mit dem roten Auto, Alles paletti, Das Mumien-Trödel-Trauma, Der Heiler von Klieburg and Nur Zoff mit dem Stoff.[5]
