The Theatergruppe Sulzheim is a non-profit amateur theatre association in Sulzheim, Schweinfurt district, Lower Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 2005, it usually stages a full-length comedy in November.[1][2]
History
In 2005 a small group met in the sports clubhouse to plan theatre performances; it rehearsed in the youth room of the parish centre, built stage flats in a barn and turned the parish hall into a theatre for its first production that November. In 2006 the festival hall of the former Gasthaus Kutzenberger was renovated and converted into the group's theatre, where the stage and technical equipment could stay set up all year.[1]
With children and young people from the municipality the group took second place in the Jugendkulturpreis in 2011 with Best of Grimms and in 2017 with Die Stunkies. The last performances in the Kutzenberger hall took place on 24 and 25 May 2019, followed by a farewell party; the building was demolished by February 2020. The local sports club then offered its hall, and with funding from the ILE WeinPanorama Steigerwald the group installed a new stage there.[1]
