Theaterverein Zirgesheim e. V. (also Theatergruppe Zirgesheim) is an amateur theatre group from Zirgesheim, a district of Donauwörth, district of Donau-Ries, Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1978, it performs a comedy on the three weekends before Easter.[1]

History

The group grew out of the celebrations for the centenary of the Zirgesheim volunteer fire brigade in 1978, when Sigrid Helmer, assisted by Max Heinle, organised a play for the festive evening. Because of the strong interest, the group then performed a one-act play each year before Christmas, followed by a three-act play, at the inn Gastwirtschaft Riß in Zirgesheim. Under Helmer's leadership the group also organised a St Nicholas afternoon, a playground festival, a Mother's Day celebration and a children's carnival ball.[1]

When the inn closed, the group moved to the hall of the inn Beim Deutschmeister in Donauwörth in 1991, building a new stage with donated materials. Because another local group already played there before Christmas, the performances were moved to the three weekends before Easter. On 25 May 1998, the group's 20th anniversary, the registered association Theaterverein Zirgesheim e. V. was formally founded. When the hall of the Deutschmeister was to be rebuilt, the group moved to the Stauferstuben in 2010, opening there with Leberkäs und rote Strapse.[1] After a long break, the club returned to the stage in 2025.[2]

Repertoire

The group stages comedies. Known productions include Leberkäs und rote Strapse (2010)[1] and Oh Gott die Familie!, a three-act comedy by Bernd Gombold (2025).[3]

Venue

Since 2010 the group has performed at the Stauferstuben in Donauwörth.[1][3]
