The Theatergruppe des SV Söcking is the theatre section of the sports club SV Söcking 1943 e. V. in Söcking, a district of the town of Starnberg, Upper Bavaria, Germany.[1] It has staged a comedy almost every year since 1981.[1]

History

Theatre has been played in Söcking since 1981, when the curtain rose for Maximilian Vitus's Die Tugendbrille in the newly built Franz-Dietrich-Halle.[1] In 2014 the production Zoff im Puff caused some controversy in Söcking beforehand but drew a record audience of about 1,000; in 2015 there was no production because the hall was being renovated.[2] After the pandemic break the group returned in autumn 2022.[2] It has nearly 30 members, including helpers for set building, make-up, props and catering, and is a member of the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V.[1]

Repertoire

The group performs Bavarian and German comedies and farces, usually in November; frequent authors have included Maximilian Vitus, Ulla Kling, Peter Landstorfer and Winnie Abel.[2][3]
