Theaterkreis Biberach-Asch e. V. is an amateur theatre group from Biberach, a village in the municipality of Roggenburg, district of Neu-Ulm, Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. A registered association since 1979, it continues a local theatre tradition dating back to 1932 and stages one comedy or thriller each winter.[1]
History
Plays have been performed in Biberach since 1932, then as now on the small stage in the hall of the Schmid brewery. The Theaterkreis Biberach-Asch has been a registered association since 1979 and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019.[1] No productions are listed for 2006 or for 2020–2022.[2]
Repertoire
The group describes its programme as boulevard and crime comedies, Singspiel, parody and comedy. In its early years it mainly staged Bavarian and Swabian folk plays; since the 2000s it has turned largely to translated English-language and French comedies by authors such as Ray Cooney and Francis Veber.[2][3] Its 2027 production will be Money Moon by Robin Hawdon.[4]
