Theaterverein Baar-Ebenhausen e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Baar-Ebenhausen, district of Pfaffenhofen, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Formed in 1979, it stages a Bavarian folk play every November in the parish centre, a programme of "Bavarian evenings" during the spring strong-beer season, and children's theatre.[1][2]

History

Theatre in the village of Baar goes back to the 1930s, when the teacher Weh staged one-act plays at the inn Alter Wirt; around 1948 a young men's society revived it, and plays were given at Christmas in the 1950s. In Ebenhausen, the young men's society, the Gemütlichkeitsverein and the shooting club staged plays from the 1930s until the outbreak of war and again until 1948.[1]

In 1979 Marianne Bieringer revived the tradition and founded an independent, then unincorporated club with 18 founding members. In 1989 it was entered in the register of associations as Theaterverein Baar-Ebenhausen e. V. Bieringer stepped down as chairwoman in 1993 for health reasons and was succeeded by Albert Oberhofer. In 1995 the club introduced its Bayerische Abende at the strong-beer season, which grew from three to eleven performances and were also presented as guest performances and for visiting groups. In 1998 it acquired a new mobile stage, inaugurated in November 1998 with D' Wahllump'n.[1] More than 90 actors have taken part in over 100 plays, one-act plays, sketches and parodies.[1]

Repertoire

Each November the club performs a full-length Schwank, folk play or comedy in the parish centre; in March it presents its Bavarian evenings for the strong-beer season at the Alter Wirt or the sports clubhouse.[1][3] The children's and youth group D'Woiperdinger, named after the Wolpertinger, has about ten members and performs at the strong-beer festival, Christmas parties and its own productions.[4]
