The Theaterverein Förnbach is an amateur theatre group in Förnbach, a village in the town of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1980, it stages a Bavarian comedy every November, in recent years exclusively by the playwright Ralph Wallner.[1][2]
History
Plays were already performed in Förnbach around 1900, and despite interruptions the tradition was revived several times. In 1978 actors staged a play for the 70th birthday of the parish priest Hermann Fiedler and the 80th birthday of the head teacher Josef Franz Gebhard; two years later the Theatergruppe Förnbach was founded. Its early performances took place in the old parish hall with its red velvet curtain and cannon stove. The club now has more than 80 members.[1]
Repertoire
Each year the club stages one comedy in November, with rehearsals lasting three months or more.[1] Since 2006 all documented productions have been comedies by Ralph Wallner.[2] Besides the plays, the club organises a strong-beer festival and excursions.[3]
