Theaterverein Forstern e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Forstern, district of Erding, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1984 as the Laienspielgruppe Forstern, it stages a Bavarian comedy in autumn and has also performed Christmas plays.[1][2]
History
In February 1984 Sebastian Käsmeier and Alfons Heiner decided to found a theatre group, as the local rural youth, which had previously staged plays, could no longer find enough players. They agreed with the rural youth to alternate in staging plays and with the Wörl family to use their hall. The craftsman Hans Nagler built a stage to Käsmeier's plans, which could serve for both interior and exterior scenes and is still in use; Erwin Neumaier painted it. In June 1984 the Laienspielgruppe Forstern was founded at the Hirschbachwirt inn in the presence of the mayor, and in November 1984 its first play, Die Ledigensteuer, premiered before a sold-out Wörl hall. The group was soon recognised as a non-profit organisation and later became a registered association.[1]
The group played in the Wörl-Saal until 1992 and again from 2001 until the hall closed for good in 2010. From 2013 it was able to play again, in the multi-purpose hall of the Forstern school.[3][4]
Repertoire
The group performs Bavarian comedies in autumn; from 2004 to 2017 it also staged Christmas plays, and in 2012 a version of Dinner for One.[2]
