The Theaterverein Halfing e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Halfing in the district of Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Its theatre group formed in 1986 and became an association in 1991; it performs Bavarian comedies and other plays in the Halfing parish hall.[1]
History
According to the club, theatre in Halfing goes back to the end of the Second World War, when the local costume society staged a play every year at the Sießlbräu or Kern inns and a one-act play at its Epiphany celebration. After many productions in the 1950s and 1960s activity largely stopped, apart from occasional sketches at club events. In 1986 Karl Seidinger, Christa Prangl and Karl Hofer brought together a group of interested people, who in March 1987 performed Der Regierungsvetter in the Halfing parish hall, which the club regards as its beginning and which has remained its venue. After Der Sündenfall (1988) and Der Nothelfer (1991), the group founded the association on 24 May 1991 at the Gasthaus Kern; 62 members joined at or immediately after the founding meeting.[1]
Repertoire
The club's list of productions includes Bavarian folk plays such as Der Gwissenswurm, Matheis bricht's Eis, Thomas auf der Himmelsleiter and D'Wahl-Lump'n, as well as Kleist's Der zerbrochene Krug and Der nackte Wahnsinn (Noises Off).[2][3] Recent productions include Lallinger ermittelt, Hummel im Himmel and, in 2026, Arno Boas's Kaltgestellt.[4][5]
