Theaterverein Rengen e.V. is an amateur theatre group based in Rengen, a district of Daun in the Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The group has staged plays since 1964, in recent years one comedy per season; its 2025 production ran on four Saturday evenings in March and April.[1][2]

History

The group's first recorded production was Das Vaterunser in 1964.[3] It celebrated its 40th anniversary on 15 and 16 May 2004, honouring long-standing and founding members.[4] The 2020 production, Die schöne Kriemhild, was cancelled shortly before the dress rehearsal because of the COVID-19 pandemic; after a break the group returned to the stage in 2023.[3]

Repertoire

From 1964 to 1994 a theatre evening often consisted of two pieces: a Volksstück or drama, sometimes of up to eight acts, followed by a short comedy, usually a one-act play. Since the mid-1990s the group has staged a single comedy each year. Between 2013 and 2017 it performed comedies in dialect versions of High German originals.[3]
