Theaterverein „Volksbühne Oberndorf" e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Oberndorf am Lech, district of Donau-Ries, Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1978, it continues a village theatre tradition going back to around 1920 and stages one comedy per winter season.[1]
History
Plays were already staged in Oberndorf around 1919/20 by the local young men's society (Burschenverein). In the early 1960s the Catholic rural youth took over this activity under its leader Karl Mayr. On 21 October 1978, 32 founding members established the Theaterverein Volksbühne Oberndorf e. V. Under its first chairman Johannes Ruf the club joined the Bund Deutscher Amateurtheater and the regional amateur theatre association.[1] The club has about 170 members, of whom around 70 are regularly involved on, in front of or behind the stage.[1]
Repertoire
The group stages one comedy per season in winter.[2][3]
