Theatre in Wildsteig began with the founding of the costume society Heimat- und Trachtenverein Alpengruß Wildsteig in 1924, whose first play was S'Wilderergrab oder Mutterliebe; it staged about 15 plays up to Der Kräuterblasi in 1970. In summer 1977 theatre resumed on behalf of the local tourism association, made possible mainly by Christl Rauch, who had previously acted at the Ludwig-Thoma-Bühne in Rottach-Egern. On 31 October 1977 Josef Schilcher proposed forming an independent theatre group, the Wildsteiger Theatergemeinschaft, whose first play was Die pfiffige Urschl.[1] On 1 July 1999 the players founded the registered association Theaterverein Wildsteig e. V. and joined the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. In Advent 2001 the club staged its first children's play, Vier Jahreszeiten.[1]
Repertoire
