Theaterverein „d' Veldensteiner" Neuhaus-Michelfeld e. V. is an amateur theatre group based in Michelfeld, a district of Auerbach in der Oberpfalz, and in Neuhaus an der Pegnitz, Bavaria, Germany. Its roots go back to 1974; the registered club was founded in 1980, and it stages a comedy every autumn in both villages.[1]
History
In 1974, on the suggestion of Hans Barth, a group of young people decided to stage a play to refill the empty coffers of the deanery youth. Their first production, Bekehrungskur für Ehefrauen, premiered on Palm Sunday 1974 in the hall of the Gasthaus Schenk in Michelfeld and was also performed in Neuhaus, Pegnitz, Creußen and Troschenreuth. In 1976 the players formed the Laienspielgruppe Neuhaus-Michelfeld. In July 1980, 19 of its members met at the Gasthaus List-Tauber in Rothenbruck to found the Theaterverein d'Veldensteiner Neuhaus-Michelfeld e. V., which was entered in the register of associations on 17 September 1980.[1]
The club's base is the primary school in Neuhaus. A children's and youth group was founded in autumn 2000 and premiered Isemir Hoppelpoppel in spring 2001. For the 900th anniversary of Michelfeld in May 2019 the club staged a historical play with more than 40 actors.[1] After a long break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic it returned to the stage with a comedy in 2022.[2] It celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024 with Rambazamba im Seniorenheim.[3] The club has 126 members.[1]
Repertoire
The group stages one comedy a year, with performances in Michelfeld and Neuhaus; by 2026 it had staged more than 50 plays.[1]
