The Theatergruppe des VfL Denklingen 1864 was the theatre section of the sports club VfL Denklingen 1864 e. V. in Denklingen, district of Landsberg, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Officially founded as a section in 1983, it became the independent Theaterverein Denklingen e. V. in 2025. It stages one new play a year.[1][2]
History
Theatre was already played in Denklingen's sports club in the 1950s; when the group was close to breaking up in 1954, Anton Hirschvogel took over as director, and each year it staged a serious main play such as Heimweh am Wolgastrand together with comic one-act plays in the old gymnasium. In 1961 the group's treasurer lost all its money on a sledging outing, which was followed by a long break.[1] In 1977 Xaver Egner and Stefan Gleich revived the theatre with a new group, supported by the municipality; it staged a play every year and also founded a youth theatre group. On 3 April 1983 the theatre section was officially founded within the VfL Denklingen 1864 e. V. and elected its first board.[1] In 2025 the section left the VfL and became an independent association.[1][2]
Repertoire
Every year the group rehearses a new play.[1]
Venue
The group performed for many years in the gymnasium of Denklingen and then in the Bürger- und Vereinszentrum (BVZ), its current venue.[2][3]
