History

Before the non-profit association was founded in 2001, a loose group of theatre enthusiasts had performed under the name Passauer Volksbühne since the 1980s. Until 2008 the group toured Passau's inns with Bavarian comedies and also gave guest performances at the Stadttheater Passau. In 2008 Brigitte Repa, a long-standing member, and her husband Christian Repa made available the church of the former Salvatorian college on the Klosterberg, where the group has played since on a stepped audience stand.[1]

Repertoire

Besides Bavarian comedies and farces, the group has staged classics and modern comedies. Productions covered by regional radio and the television station TRP1 include Mirandolina (after Carlo Goldoni's La locandiera), Der tollste Tag, Der kühne Schwimmer, Da Weltverdruß, Unterholz, Hotel Mimosa and Ein ungleiches Paar.[2] In the 2025/26 season it performed Siegfried Burger's farce Dummheit schützt vor Liebe nicht, and its next premiere is planned for 17 April 2027.[3][4]
