The Weiß-blaue Bühne München e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, performing in the district of Pasing. Founded in 1952 as the Bühnenclub Helios, it stages Bavarian comedies, farces and boulevard plays, usually several productions a year.[1]

History

The group was founded on 25 October 1952 by Theo Woerner, later its principal and honorary director, as the Bühnenclub Helios in the restaurant Lindners-Bierhallen. From 1993 it performed as the Weiß-blaue Bühne in the Gasthof zur Post on Pasing's Marienplatz. For the group's 60th anniversary in autumn 2012, its chairwoman Dagmar Fröhler wrote that the club had 51 members, some of whom had been acting for 30 or 40 years, and appealed for younger members.[1]

Repertoire

The club says that traditional Bavarian rural plays (Bauernstücke) are still part of the repertoire but have increasingly been replaced by brisk comedies and boulevard plays translated into Bavarian. Since 2006 it has also held Kerzerlabende, evenings of reflective and humorous pieces during Advent.[1] No productions took place in 2021 and 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]
