The Zusambühne Zusmarshausen is the amateur theatre section of the sports club TSV Zusmarshausen in Zusmarshausen, district of Augsburg, Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It was founded in 1982 by former actors, all members of the TSV, to revive the old theatre tradition of the market town, and has staged a comedy almost every year since 1983.[1][2]

History

The group began with a dismountable stage in the gymnasium (Turnhalle); until 2002 it played in the Sporthalle Zusmarshausen. Since 2004 its main productions have been performed in the hall of the St. Albert senior citizens' centre in Zusmarshausen.[1][2] For special occasions such as the 1100th anniversary of the market town it has produced open-air plays, among them the historical plays Der Posthalter (1992) and Pfüat di, Napoleon! (1995) by Barbara Unverdorben.[1][2] The productions planned for 2001 (Sunshine Boys) and 2020 (Trudes Bude) were cancelled.[2]

Repertoire

The group's repertoire consists mainly of light comedies and farces, alongside classics such as Plautus's Mostellaria and Kesselring's Arsen und Spitzenhäubchen, one-act plays for the local castle festival (Schlossfest) and a crime dinner.[1][2]
