The Jugendtheater Musik & Kunst AG e. V. is a youth arts association in Grabenstätt, Traunstein district, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Its theatre section, originally known as the Jugendtheater Grabenstätt, has performed as the Junge Chiemseer Bühne since 2014.[1]
History
Youth theatre in Grabenstätt began around 2007 with a Ludwig Thoma evening in the Chiemseebräu; the group then played in the Grabenstätter Hof and elsewhere.[2] The association was founded in 2010.[3] In 2014 its Bavarian comedy Ratsch und Tratsch (2013) won a recognition prize of the Papageno Award (see Awards).[4]
Until 2014 the theatre section of the association had no name of its own. After a year-long search it took the name "Junge Chiemseer Bühne", since the growing ensemble, then 32 young players not counting the musicians, also drew members from the Chiemsee area and the Achental (Schleching, Unterwössen, Grassau, Übersee).[1] In 2015 the association set up its own youth body (Vereinsjugend) for members aged ten to 26; it had completed admission to the Bayerischer Jugendring and was about to join the Kreisjugendring Traunstein.[5]
In autumn 2016 the small stage "Theater Strickerei" opened in a former knitwear factory in Grabenstätt as a joint cultural project, with the Junge Chiemseer Bühne as one of its resident groups.[3] In 2017 the group's production of Johann Nestroy's Der Talisman was nominated for the Papageno Award.[4] The Theater Strickerei had to leave the building in early 2022 because a supermarket was to be built on the site; apart from a children's play in 2021, the group's theatre work had then been paused for about two years.[2]
Repertoire
The group combines Bavarian comedies and folk plays for its youth ensemble with productions for a children's group, and its older members have also appeared in productions of the Salztheater Traunstein and the Chiemgau-Theater.[2] Other productions mentioned in the press are Der Talisman (before 2017) and the children's play Pettersson und Findus.[4][2]

Organisation
The touring version of Bei der Feuerwehr wird der Kaffee kalt was offered free of charge to kindergartens and libraries in the Traunstein and Rosenheim districts in 2022, funded by the federal programme "Neustart Kultur".[8]
